Story
of
Perseverance Growing
up,
I
always
felt
like
I
was
different
from
the
other
kids.
My
parents
had
given
me
the
name
Emily,
a
name
that
wasn't
very
common
at
the
time.
While
my
peers
had
names
like
Sarah,
Jessica
and
Michael,
I
had
a
name
that
stood
out
like
a
sore
thumb. But
as
I
grew
older,
I
began
to
realize
that
having
a
unique
name
could
be
a
blessing
in
disguise.
It
allowed
me
to
stand
out
and
be
remembered,
something
that
would
prove
helpful
later
on
in
life. In
middle
school,
I
discovered
a
love
for
writing.
I
started
off
submitting
articles
to
the
school
newspaper,
then
moved
on
to
writing
short
stories.
I
even
started
my
own
blog.
But
despite
my
passion
for
writing,
I
had
trouble
finding
my
voice.
I
felt
like
my
writing
was
mediocre
at
best
and
that
I
would
never
be
able
to
achieve
my
dreams
of
becoming
a
published
author. But
I
persisted.
I
kept
writing,
day
after
day,
even
when
I
felt
like
my
work
was
falling
on
deaf
ears.
And
slowly,
but

I
started
to
improve.
My
writing
became
more
polished,
more
refined.
I
started
receiving
recognition
and
praise
from
my
peers
and
teachers. By
the
time
I
graduated

writing
awards

even
had
some
of
my
work
published
in
a
literary
magazine.
But
I
didn't
stop
there.
I
went
on
to
college
to
study
creative
writing
and
even
managed
to
land
an
internship
at
a
publishing
company. Looking
back,
I
realize
that
my
name
–
Emily
–
served
as
a
constant
reminder
to
persevere,
to
push
through
even
when
things
seemed
impossible.
It
taught
me
that
being
true
to
myself
and
my
passions
could
lead
to
success,
no
matter
how
unconventional
that
success
may
be. So
yes,
my
name
may
be
different.
But
it
has
become
a
part
of
who
I
am,
a
symbol
of
the
journey
that
I
have
taken
and
the
person
that
I
have
become.
