As
a
foreign
mother
raising
a
daughter,
one
of
the
most
important
decisions
I
had
to
make
was
choosing
her
name.
After
all,
a
name
is
not
just
a
label,
it's
an
identity.
I
wanted
a
name
that
was
both
unique
and
meaningful.
Eventually,
I
chose
the
name
"Aria".
It
is
a
beautiful
name
that
means
"air"
or
"song"
in
Italian.
To
me,
it
represents
the
lightness
and
freedom
of
life,
as
well
as
the
power
of
music
to
express
emotions.
Of
course,
choosing
a
name
is
not
always
easy.
There
are
so
many
options
to
consider,
each
with
its
own
cultural,
historical,
and
personal
significance.
Should
I
pick
a
name
that
reflects
my
heritage,
or
blend
in
with
the
local
culture?
Should
it
be
a
popular
name
or
a
rare
one?
And
what
about
the
spelling
and
pronunciation?
I
also
had
to
think
about
the
potential
nicknames,
the
initials,
and
the
middle
name.
I
didn't
want
to
give
my
daughter
a
name
that
would
embarrass
her
or
limit
her
opportunities.
At
the
same
time,
I
wanted
it
to
be
something
that
she
would
carry
proudly
and
confidently,
something
that
would
inspire
her
and
connect
her
to
her
roots.
Naming
a
child
is
not
just
a
matter
of
preference,
but
also
a
responsibility.
It
is
a
way
to
honor
our
ancestors,
express
our
hopes
and
dreams,
and
bless
our
children
with
a
positive
and
meaningful

identity.
As
a
foreign
mother
living
in
a
multi-cultural
world,
I
feel
blessed
to
have
the
freedom
and
privilege
to
choose
a
name
that
reflects
my
personal
values
and
aspirations.
I
hope
that
my
daughter,
Aria,
will
continue
to
live
up
to
her
name,
and
bring
joy
and
harmony
to
the
world
around
her.
