movement
(REM)
sleep,
which

stage
of
sleep
associated
with
dreams
in
humans.
During
REM
sleep,
the
brain
waves
become
similar
to
those
of
a
waking
state,
and
the
body
is
paralyzed
to
prevent
the
animal
from
acting
out
their
dreams. In
fact,
studies
have
also
shown
that
animals
may
even
dream
about
things
that
have
happened
to
them
during
the
day
or
repetitive
actions
they
do
regularly,
similar
to
how
humans
sometimes
dream
about
their
daily
activities.
For
example,
dogs
may
dream
about
chasing
a
ball
or
cats
may
dream
about
catching
mice. While
we
may
never
truly
know
what
goes
on
inside
an
animal's
mind,
these
studies
suggest
that
animals
do
dream
just
like
humans
do.

animal
