A
Yashi
Journey
My
name
is
Yashi,
which
is
pronounced
just
like
the
English
word
"yacht"
with
a
"she"
sound
at
the
end.
It's
quite
an
uncommon
name,
but
I've
grown
to
love
it
over
the
years.
And
speaking
of
uncommon
things,
let
me
tell
you
about
my
journey
with
the
International
English
Language
Testing
System,
or
IELTS.
I
first
heard
of
the
IELTS
during
my
second
year
of
university.
I
was
studying
abroad
in
the
United
Kingdom
at
the
time
and
many
of
my
friends
were
planning
to
take
the
exam
as
part
of
their
visa
applications.
I
was
hesitant
to
join
them
at
first,
as
English
is
my
first
language
and
I
didn't
see
the
point
in
taking
a
test
to

my
proficiency.
However,
after
doing
some
research,
I
realized
that
the
IELTS
is
recognized
by
universities
and
employers
all
over
the
world
and
having
a
good
score
could
open
up
many
opportunities
for
me
in
the
future.
So,
I
decided
to
take
the
plunge
and
signed
up
for
the
exam.
I
studied
diligently
for
several
weeks,
focusing
on
my
weaker
areas
such
as
writing
and
speaking.
On
exam
day,
I
was
nervous
but
confident
that
I
had
prepared
as
best
as
I
could.
Fast
forward
a
few
weeks
and
I
received
my
scores.
I
was
thrilled
to
see
that
I
had
achieved
a
band
score
of
9,
the
highest
possible
score.
I
felt
a
sense
of
pride
and
accomplishment,
knowing
that
my
hard
work
had
paid
off.
Now,
several
years
later,
I
can
honestly
say
that
taking
the
IELTS
was
one
of
the
best
decisions
I've
made.
It
has
opened
up
many
doors
for
me,
including
opportunities
to
study
and
work
abroad.
And
even
though
English
is
my
first
language,
I
learned
many
valuable
skills
during
the
preparation
process
that
have
helped
me
in
both
my
academic
and
professional
pursuits.
In
conclusion,
my
journey
with
the
IELTS
has
been
a
memorable
one.
It
reminded
me
that
there
is
always
room
for
improvement
no
matter
how
comfortable
we
may
feel
in
a
certain
area.
And
I
hope
that
my
experience
can
inspire
others
to
take
the
leap
and
challenge
themselves
to
achieve
their
own
personal
goals.
